An assassin with the help of his handler is given a relatively easy assignment with a low chance of casualties in an effort to put his streak of bad luck. He leaves behind the gun he's been offered, because he now has a therapist who's helping him to become enlightened, and guns don't mesh with that way of thinking.
The mission starts out promising, but quickly goes wrong when it becomes clear the train is filled with an assortment of assassins taking part in a deadly game of survival on one of the fastest modes of transport in the world.

Abandoned as a child in the marshes of North Carolina, Kya Clark raises herself, learning how to survive from the land and the creatures around her. Shunned by the townsfolk, who consider her an oddity, she stays away from people for the most part, and doesn't get the benefit of a school education.
As she grows up, she befriends and falls for Tate Walker, who teaches her how to read and write. When he moves away for college, she finds herself enamoured with quarterback Chance Andrews. But when Chance's body is discovered, Kya is considered the prime suspect and could face the death penalty.
